Annie McBride is the owner, operator, and lead teacher of McBride Music.
Note: Annie is currently on maternity leave from teaching. Her American Fork classes will resume in March 2025.
Some of Annie’s earliest memories are of her mom helping her play the violin and of her dad coming home from work and filling the house with jazz chords on the piano. She started violin at age 5 and was immersed in a musical environment in her home, from Bach and Vivaldi violin practice sessions to Youth Choirs at church to dance parties---featuring Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind, and Fire---while doing the dishes with the family. While growing up she also witnessed the power of music in the life of her younger brother, Ben, who has special needs.
Annie completed a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Violin Performance at Brigham Young University. Along the way she discovered a love of folk music and fiddling. She has taught violin lessons to students from age 5 to 40.
Annie encountered Music Together after the birth of her first child. The perfect fit of Annie’s musical background and fun-loving personality made her want to participate not only as a parent but also as a teacher. Annie taught Music Together classes in Connecticut before moving to Utah and offering the program in Utah Valley. When she’s not making music you can find her hiking, teaching test-prep classes to high school students, cooking, and snuggling with her daughter, son, and husband.
Jess’ love of music began in her early years, with roots in listening to her dad sing bedtime lullabies and her mom pick out songs on the piano. Despite her early start—participating in piano lessons, church choir, and ballet classes from the time she was six—Jess had very little confidence in her own musical ability growing up.
When Jess was a new mom to a one-year-old, an old friend from Connecticut opened a Music Together center in Utah and invited her to come. Jess loved the music and the developmentally-appropriate approach. But even more, she loved watching her boys grow in their music competence, enthusiasm, and confidence. And she was surprised to find her confidence in her own musicality growing too! Soon, Jess and her boys were making music together every day—from impromptu dance parties in the living room to singing while waiting in line at the grocery store. When a teaching position opened up, Jess jumped at the opportunity.
Jess believes in the power of music—to connect families and communities, to celebrate and to mourn, and to just have plain old fun. And she believes that anyone can make music! She is excited to connect with kids and their caregivers through music, and share in the magic of making music together. Jess lives in Nephi, Utah, with her husband and three young boys, where you’ll find her making music, reading, writing, and working as a parent coach.
